Introduction to the RESA Office Manager

Dear Redwood Estates Community,

I am Cheryl Hargrove, current landowner and future resident of Redwood Estates, and I’m the new Office Manager for RESA. Some of you may recognize my name from when I served as Interim Office Manager at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022. For those whom I have not had the pleasure to meet, I look forward to getting to know you and the RESA community.

The Office Manager is an integral community-building and organizational cornerstone of RESA and its activities. I understand that your time and community are very important to you, so I look forward to serving all of your needs. In my effort to serve you, we’ve implemented virtual office hours via telephone or email Monday–Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

As Office Manager, it is my hope to help create, facilitate, and organize community-building events that all can partake in and enjoy. Getting to know you in person is very important to me. Thus, in-office operations/hours will begin Spring 2023.

One of my first priorities is to roll out services that will make monthly assessment payments easier, such as more versions of electronic billing (e.g., Zelle), so be on the lookout for that option in your next bill. I’m also very interested in hearing your feedback to help me improve processes, build community trust, and understand what is most important to you.

The RESA team appreciates your patience with recent staff changes and processes and hope we can continue building and strengthening our community. Coming from a community-building role, I look forward to helping each of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Madrone Drive road work September 14, 2022

Last week’s scheduled water main installation project on Madrone Drive for our fire station has been rescheduled.

This project will now take place daily beginning Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. daily (less weekends) and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, September 23.

Originally the contractor requested a detour for traffic, but now they believe they can do one-way traffic lane control in front of the fire station.

Thank you in advance for your understanding on this traffic issue.

Water quality alert

RESA received the following information from SJWC explaining the upcoming water taste and smell that we may encounter in the next few days.

“Last night San Jose Water’s Montevina Water Treatment Plant suffered a leak, resulting in flooding that submerged pumps critical to operations. As a result, the plant had to be shut down. The water quality served to your area was not compromised during this event. At this time, we do not know how long Montevina will remain offline. We are assessing the damage and will provide an update once information is available.

“Today SJW will begin to supply the Mountain District with water. The area will be served by our 7-Mile Well Station, which will result in a transition from chloraminated surface water to free chlorinate groundwater. To prepare for this change, SJW is asking Mountain District system operators to begin lowering tanks in the area.

“Please note that this switch from surface water to groundwater will result in aesthetic changes to the water quality such as taste or smell. Groundwater disinfected with free chlorine has an earthier smell. Chlorine is more readily detectable in taste and smell than chloramine. Groundwater has higher hardness, meaning you may notice white deposits, scale, and spotting on dishware.”
