SJWC Water Main Installation – Project Updates Week of 7/5

Dear RESA Community,

The following maps and descriptions are for the road closures for Wednesday 7/5, Thursday 7/6, and Mon 7/10:

Mountain View Ct, La Verne Dr, Judith Ct, Patricia Ct.

The following map and description will be from Mon 7/10 – Thurs 7/13, keeping Locust Drive closed down the hill:

Mountain View Ct, La Verne Dr, Judith Ct, Patricia Ct.

A Note from West Valley Construction:

Access will be closed (limited to emergency access) in the red areas; the main vein being Locust Dr all the way down to La Verne. This would mean that residents located above the closure will need to enter and exit via the back way on Summit Rd. Those below the red area would need to enter and exit down Broadway Rd.

We understand this is going to potentially cause some frustration not having the access up and down the hill by way of Locust Dr, but hopefully this map helps you plan and detour different directions depending on where they are located.

WVCC will follow up regardless on Wednesday afternoon with an update so we can keep the days, locations, and durations as clean as possible moving forward.

Sincerely,
RESA Office

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Pavilion

On May 25, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) made an amendment to its Major Disaster Declaration (FEMA-4683-DR/January storms), including Santa Clara County for Individual Assistance. This decision is the outcome of the County’s appeal of the initial denial – your submissions to SCC earlier this year in reporting your storm damages contributed to this effort.

Impacted individuals and households in Santa Clara County are now eligible for financial and direct services under the Individual Assistance Program.

OEM is coordinating the establishment of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) where FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and nine state agencies will provide disaster-impacted individuals with information and help on applying for federal assistance. Applicants can learn about the types of assistance available, the appeals process, and get updates on applications.

SJWC Water Main Installation

Greetings Residents of Redwood Estates,

West Valley Construction, on behalf of San Jose Water Company, will be installing a new water main and services on the following streets: Madrone Drive (Pavilion to R.E. Store), Broadway Rd., Laverne Dr., Patricia Ct., Judith Ct., Mt. View Ct., and Locust Ct. beginning on or near June 5th

Utility owners will mark the location of existing underground utilities with white markings. We will begin potholing to dig down and verify the depth and location of any utilities that may be present. All trenches and potholes will be backfilled or covered with steel trench plates at the end of each day.

This process will take several weeks to complete. We will send out a map showing our starting location with highlighted roads that will be affected to allow residents/business owners to plan accordingly. Access in-and-out of your homes will be granted as needed – for narrow roads, there will be times during the day that certain areas are not accessible.

The project work hours are limited to 8AM-6PM Monday through Thursday. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Water services will not be interrupted during the installation process over the next several months. However, once this project is near completion, and the new water main is activated, we will need to switch your water service connection to the new water main. This process will require your water services be turned off for a period of 6-8 hours. Residents affected by this new water main connection will be notified at least 72-hours before the interruption.

Please, be on the lookout for updates in the coming weeks as we look forward to getting this project underway.

Thank you,
Ryan Marten
